Cybercriminals leverage data scraped from LinkedIn and corporate breaches to craft messages that reflect real business contexts. This not only increases their chances of success but also targets even the most cautious employees.
The situation has worsened with the rise of deepfake technology, where criminals impersonate trusted figures via audio or video. Over the last decade, attacks utilizing deepfake technology have surged by 1,000%, allowing scammers to exploit communication platforms like Zoom and WhatsApp effectively.
Unfortunately, conventional defenses, which often rely on signature-based detection, are proving inadequate against the dynamic nature of AI-powered phishing attacks. Malicious actors can quickly alter their tactics, including rotating domains and subject lines, effectively evading static security measures.
