TikTok is introducing an innovative control feature that allows users to manage the visibility of AI-generated content in their video feeds. Testing is underway for a new AI slider positioned alongside existing content control options under the section titled “Manage topics.” Previously, this feature enabled users to adjust their exposure to various content areas, such as dance, current affairs, and fitness, effectively curating their own TikTok experience.
The AI slider will function similarly, granting users the ability to dictate their preference for AI material. Users can opt to see more or less AI content, choosing from two levels in either direction. However, the effectiveness of this feature hinges on TikTok’s ability to identify which videos are AI-generated. To boost its detection capabilities, TikTok is working to refine its algorithms.
Recognizing the issue of users removing visual watermarks from generated content, TikTok is also set to enhance its strategy by implementing invisible watermarks on videos created using its AI tools, such as AI Editor Pro. Additionally, videos uploaded with C2PA Content Credentials will be marked as part of an industry-wide authentication standard. Despite this promising initiative, users and experts should remain cautious, as the efficacy of these measures has yet to be fully realized.
Both the AI content control and watermarking changes are expected to roll out in the coming weeks. However, it is important to note that the AI content control feature is currently in the testing phase, with broader implementation yet to be confirmed.
